Job Title: Entry Level Barge Lasher

Job Type: Full Time

Starting Pay/Salary: DOE

Shift 8-10 hr with possible OT:

Days- 7am-3:30pm Monday - Friday and possible Saturdays based on workflow.

Start Date: ASAP

Location: Seattle, WA

A barge lasher is a maritime worker responsible for securing cargo on barges using specialized lashing equipment, ensuring the load is properly fastened and safe for transport, typically working on docks or alongside barges to tie down cargo with ropes, chains, and other securing mechanisms, while adhering to safety protocols and regulations.

Key responsibilities of a barge lasher may include:

Cargo securing: Using lashing gear like chains, ropes, and turnbuckles to tightly secure cargo on the barge deck, ensuring proper weight distribution and stability.

Inspecting lashing points: Checking the condition of lashing points on the barge and cargo to identify any potential damage or wear.

Rigging and placement: Setting up lashing gear in the correct positions on the barge deck, considering the type and size of cargo.

Tensioning and tightening: Adjusting lashing lines to maintain proper tension and secure the cargo throughout transport.

Weather considerations: Adapting lashing techniques based on weather conditions to maintain cargo safety.

Documentation: Recording lashing details and inspections on relevant paperwork.

Maintaining equipment: Inspecting and performing basic maintenance on lashing gear.

Required skills and qualifications:

Physical strength and endurance: Ability to lift and maneuver heavy lashing gear and cargo.

Hand-eye coordination: Precise placement and tightening of lashing lines.

Safety awareness: Understanding and adhering to maritime safety regulations regarding cargo securing.

Basic mechanical knowledge: Familiarity with lashing equipment and its operation.

Weather adaptability: Ability to work in various weather conditions.

Requirements:

**Must be TWIC Card Eligible** Willingness to work in an outdoor environment * Ability to lift 25lb - 50lb * Have steel toe boots * Have valid drivers License Must have reliable transportation The job is located in Seattle* Must be willing to pass a pre-employment drug screen and pre-employment background check.
